2015 Section Officers

Chair(Presides over all Section leadership and member meetings; appoints standing committee chairs; develops and monitors Section business plan with Section leadership; ensures Section meets minimum requirements established by ASQ Section Affairs Council. Must be a Full, Senior, or Fellow of ASQ in good standing with the Section, have basic knowledge of Society bylaws, policies, and procedures, and Section operations. Requires 8-10 hours/month.) Chair-Elect(Second in command after the Chair; works closely with the Chair to manage the Section by establishing the Section business plan and internal systems for implementing the plan; presides over the Section in the absence of the Chair. Must be a Full, Senior, or Fellow of ASQ in good standing with the Section, have basic knowledge of Society bylaws, policies, and procedures, and Section operations. Must be willing to succeed to position of Chair. Requires 6-8 hours/month.) Open
Secretary(Records all Section leadership committee meetings. Maintains careful and accurate records of all Section business meetings; updates Section policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with Society bylaws, policies and procedures; Serves as primary correspondent for the Section; directs mailing of notices, ballots and other information to members. Must be a Full, Senior, or Fellow of ASQ in good standing with the Section; strong writing and word-processing skills are preferred. Treasurer(Oversees Section funds; maintains accurate Section financial records; reports financial condition of Section at times directed by Society bylaws and policies and procedures, including quarterly financial reports and coordination of annual audit report with Section Audit Chair. Must be a Full, Senior, or Fellow of ASQ in good standing with the Section; should have understanding of budgeting and basic accounting principles. Requires 4-8 hours/month.) Membership Chair(Responsible for Section recruitment and retention efforts; develops and implements plans to maximize membership renewal and encourage interested persons to join ASQ; promotes Section participation in the Society’s membership campaign. Education Chair(Creates and implements plan to address Section educational issues; arranges and determines format, presenters, resources, objectives, teaching methods and materials for Section educational events; evaluates results from all educational events; informs members of Society educational offerings. Must be an ASQ member in good standing with excellent communication skills. Requires 4-6 hours/month.) Open
Certification/Re-Certification Chair(Coordinates and manages Section activities related to the ASQ certification program; works with the Education Chair to prepare and hold refresher courses for ASQ certification programs; manages administrative duties related to hosting certification exams, including securing an exam site and proctors according to ASQ HQ timelines; coordinates and manages Section activities related to ASQ’s recertification program; helps Section members with the recertification process; evaluates applications for recertification and validates areas of professional activity; ensures timely submission of recertification information to ASQ HQ. Must be a member in good standing certified by ASQ in at least one of its certifications. Excellent communication and organization skills preferred. Arrangement Chair(Oversees arrangements for all regular meetings of the Section and other special programs and conferences in the Section business plan, including arranging all meeting facilities, menus and speaker equipment. Must be an ASQ member in good standing with strong organization, communication, and negotiation skills. Requires 4-6 hours/month.) JOpen
Newsletter Editor(Shares Section information, including meeting schedules, educational events and Society offerings with Section members; establishes and adheres to a publication calendar for the Section newsletter; seeks regular contributors and reliable sources of information to include in each issue; designs, layouts and edits each newsletter, adhering to ASQ logo and branding guidelines. Must be a member of the Section in good standing with creativity and excellent communication skills. Newsletter layout and design experience is helpful. Requires 4-6 hours/month.) Open
Internet Liaison(Provides current and relevant information about the Section on the internet, adhering to copyright laws and Society branding guidelines; maintains Section page on www.asq.org. Must be a member in good standing with access to a computer and the internet, proficient with web browsers, the internet and associated software applications; knowledge of HTML and strong writing skills are preferred. Auditing Chair(Works with Section Treasurer to audit Section books on a quarterly basis; conducts annual audit at end of fiscal year and submits audit report to ASQ HQ by August 15th; recommends improvements to Section internal controls. Must be a Full, Senior, or Fellow of ASQ in good standing with the Section; should have understanding of budgeting and basic accounting principles. Requires 3-4 hours/month.) Nominations Chair(Identifies at least one potential candidate for each elected position as required by Society policies; calls for nominations from the general membership at least 30 days prior to presentation of nominees. VOC Chair(Works with Section leadership to collect and utilize voice of the customer data to recommend appropriate Section programs and services; serves as an advocate for member value, satisfaction and loyalty.
